Ruel is an Australian singer-songwriter from Sydney. In 2015, Ruel was discovered by Grammy Award-winning producer M-Phazes, who enlisted the help of singer/songwriter Thief to work on a sound. Ruel released his debut single "Golden Years" in April 2017, with M-Phazes.

Ruel completed a tour of Australia and New Zealand first with Angus and Julia Stone in September 2017 and also with Khalid in November 2017. In November 2017 Ruel signed with RCA Records Internationally. Ruel played in Tokyo on 24 March 2018 at Pop Spring Festival were he did his first meet and greet.

On 4 April 2018, Ruel performed at the Opening Ceremony of the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
